Originally from Moses Lake, Washington, Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, a Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, and completed doctoral coursework at the University of Illinois. He is currently pursuing an Associate of Engineering Science degree at Parkland College in Champaign. Born in England, he held a Ph.D in music from Cambridge University and was a professor of musicology at UIUC from 1967 to 1996. He specialized in English musical history, publishing The Music of the English Parish Church (1979), The Hymn Tune Index (1998), and many books, articles, and editions of music. He edited Haydn’s Creation for Peters Edition.
