Messiah Sing-Along

A Baroque Christmas

Madrigals, choral works with festive orchestral accompaniment by Antonio Caldara (Magnificat in C) and J. S. Bach (BWV 191) and, of course, a medley of beloved carols and chorales featuring these groups and YOU in a heart-warming celebration of the season.

Baroque Chamber Music & YBAC Winners Showcase

Our May concert showcases the winner(s) of the Young Baroque Artists Competition, followed by a
concert of chamber music featuring old friends Amanda Pond (flute), Maureen Murchie (violin), Ben Hayek (cello/gamba) and Charlotte Mattax (harpsichord).
Young Baroque Artist’s Competition
(YBAC) A competition for young musicians, 13 to 18 years of age, who are studying baroque vocal or instrumental music. The YBAC was developed to foster interest in the music of the 17th and 18th centuries, and to discover and encourage exceptional young musical talent. Winners are awarded cash prizes and invited to perform at our May Concert. Please check back in the fall for additional details and the application form.
BACH’s Birthday
BACH will celebrate 15 years of music-making in July 2011 with a special commemorative concert at St. John’s Catholic Church in Champaign. Details to come!
